Consolidated Glass introduced their Martele line in 1926. This pattern was influenced by the Lalique glass of France. The introduction of the Art Moderne pattern in 1928 caused a lot of excitement in the glass industry. This pattern is pictured in our book-
"Phoenix and Consolidated Glass"
by Jack Wilson on pages 19 and 67.
The candy box is in good condition with
no
staining or cracks. The lid doesn’t fit tight. The ends are fine but the center rocks. On the inside lip of the bottom, there are several small flakes or chips. This has occurred due to the brittleness of the glass and constant normal use of putting the lid off and on. We tried to get several close up photos, but being so small you have to look hard. There are several wavy lines and air bubbles in the glass that occurred during the manufacture process. We are a nonsmoking home/shop and there are no odors on this piece.
eBay now has started to collect sales tax from some states. We have nothing to do with it. Buyers are responsible for checking eBay policy on sales tax. eBay will be adding more states to the collection list in the future. Any questions on sales tax would be to eBay and not us.
